    Microscope is very pleased to present Break The Sky, the first solo exhibition at the gallery by Jeanne Liotta, whose works we have previously shown in “Triple Blind” (2013), “Slide Slide Slide” (2014), and “Dreamlands: Expanded” (2016-17), a series of expanded cinema events presented in collaboration with the Whitney Museum of American Art as part of the exhibition “Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema & Art 1905-2016”.

  • Reinscriptions for Line Describing A Cone

    Part of a series of works collectively referred to as solid light films, Anthony McCall’s Line Describing a Cone sees the fog-thickened beam of a 16mm projector transformed into a three-dimensional moving sculpture. As the beam is viewed from various vantage points within the space it transforms, shifts, and demands attentive observation.

    Images Contre Nature #18 - International festival of experimental video

    To accept the enigma of a film is to delight in it. Such an acquiescence is caused by the depth of a character, an actor's performance or the sharpness of the dialogues. The spectator appreciates watching elements assemble and thus seeing the puzzle being reconstituted. The pattern in the puzzle evolves (the story) and the aspect of its parts gives it character (the form).

    The Museum of Modern Art will present The Women’s Film Preservation Fund: Four Experimental Films January 22nd at 7:15pm in its annual festival, To Save and Project. The films by Peggy Ahwesh, Barbara Hammer, Victoria Hochberg, and Sheila Paige were all recently preserved by The Women’s Film Preservation Fund of New York Women in Film & Television.
