It has been theorised that the contemporary "economy of presence" has made fluid the boundaries between the professional, private and social spheres of human activity. Institutional apparatus rely on our incessant pressure to perform, where immaterial labour, personal commitment and the search for pleasure are barely distinguishable and in constant operation. In this dystopian pleasure-based economy, the conventional arbiters of value convert easily into immaterial alternatives such as emotions and experiences. Love and authenticity are the currencies of our time, exchanged alternatively through restless online posting, reproductive labour and the good vibes produced by corporate mindfulness meditation sessions.

The Atelier 105 artist residencies are dedicated to video-based post-production of films that fall within the realm of experimental cinema, with the objective of supporting ten to fifteen projects per year.
Submissions are now open for the first residency session of 2018 (January 29 to June 1). The application deadline is Friday, December 15 (midnight).(However, please note that the session will be closed when the quota of 30 submissions has been reached)
Marissa Rae Niederhauser, dancer, artist and filmmaker from Seattle, United States, lives in Berlin for two years, now. Her films vary between radical body expressions, and transcending body-nature relations, the complications of desire, and the search for love while counteracting the (male) role expectations.

Stuart Pound (1944, London, UK) started making films as a member of the London Film Maker Co-op. He learnt film making at Nottingham's Trent University, where he currently works as a lecturer. Over the past twenty years he has collaborated with the poet Rosemary Norman on a number of videos.
