Tehran is hosting the first glitch video art group exhibition titled ‘Glitch Art: Pixel Language’ featuring 27 glitch artists for 11 weeks
A group video art exhibition titled ‘Glitch Art: Pixel Language,’ curated by Mohammad-Ali Famori and Sadeq Majlesi, has opened on December 25 at Bavan Gallery in Tehran, Iran and will continue for eleven weeks until March 12.
After holding the first group photo exhibition tour entitled ‘Definite Moment’ in 2018 in six galleries in Tehran and Isfahan followed by a great success, Platform 101, an independent, non-profit, artistic institution with focus on digital arts, prepared a plan to hold the first glitch video art group exhibition in Iran.
Curators, Mohammad-Ali Famori is an award winner multidisciplinary artist who has exposed his art in 28 international exhibitions including: “The Identity Architecture Exhibition” at Plaza Casanardi Gallery in Venice, Italy and “The Art Box” in Basel, Switzerland and his solo exhibition at Seyhoun Gallery in Tehran,Iran. Sadeq Majles is a pioneer glitch artist in Iran who has previously held the first solo glitch art exhibition.
These two creative curators have identified the talented glitch artists in Iran as well as other 5 countries including Brazil, USA, Italy, Azerbaijan, Singapore and has succeeded to organise the first glitch video art group exhibition in collaboration with Famori Studio and Art Researcher in Tehran.
Speaking about the exhibition, Famori said that technological errors that are the product of defects in digital devices give us incomplete images, intertwined lines of video, audio noises, pixel and digital motifs that form the glitch art aesthetics. In the process of creating glitch work, on the one hand, the artist relies on the digital broadcaster as a medium, and on the other hand, there is an artist, and the third side addresses the interpretation of the digital art by the audience.
In visual art, glitch is a discourse that confirms movement from the whole to the part and interchangeably from the part to the whole, and it has the potential to become a tangible language for all human beings to reach a single concept of digital art.
In this exhibition, 27 glitch artists from all around the globe, create works to identify the value of pixels, so they can force our minds to reread the pixel language.
During the 11-week exhibition, every Friday, the artworks of two artists will be exhibited for seven days.
Works by Abarca, Arash Masoum, Arezou Ramezani, Behrouz Farahani, Diyu Fang, Elnaz Mohammadi, Erfan Ashourian, Francesco Corvi, Franco Palioff, Golnaz Behrouznia, Hossein Pouresmeil, Mohammad-Ali Famori, Nazila Karimi, Neda Dastafkan, Nikzad Arabshahi, Nima Mansoury, Parisa Pakzamir, Parnian Donyari, Reza Famori, Razieh Kooshki, Sabato Vissconti, Sadeq Majlesipour, Shalala Salamzadeh, Sina Kiadaliri, Shahab Shahali, Suture, and Vahid Qaderi will be displayed in the exhibition.
