The first weekend of June Cinematek celebrates the combat of women, female artists and filmmakers, feminists and their commitment. A weekend focus on female pioneers who have brought new representations of women to the screen, made the camera a weapon for emancipation and have innovated film language: From Les Insoumuses, Carole Roussopoulos & Delphine Seyrig, to Barbara Hammer, and Carolee Schneemann. Four screenings that are remarkably intertwined.

These 8 films approach loss and lineages through experimental visual strategies that document rebirths and Queer utopic visions. Calling out a shared invitation to a then and there, leaving behind and moving towards a Queer sublime, the diverse strategies in these films weave together a step out of harm and endings in this time, to something fuller, vaster, and more beautiful. Marie Louise Alemann (North Rhine-Westphalia, 1927 - Buenos Aires, 2015) was a pioneer filmmaker of Argentine experimental cinema.Between the seventies and eighties, she teamed up with fellow filmmakers such as Narcisa Hirsch, Claudio Caldini and Juan José Mugni, among others, and played an important role in the promotion of experimental cinema in Buenos Aires.
