This is a call for submissions for Moves07.
Moves07 was created as part of the 4th Commonwealth Film Festival in Manchester, UK. After its success as a strand of this festival, it has now emerged as an international festival in its own right. Moves is an exhibition platform for dance and the moving image taking place between June 12th and 17th 2007.
Moves07’s experimental programme is an homage to Maya Deren’s idea of the ‘pas de deux’ between camera and subject. Films submitted for inclusion in this programme must demonstrate the intensity of the choreographic relationship between the filmmaker’s tools (framing, editing, image manipulation...) and the filmed object (a human figure, an inanimate object, a pixelized flicker, a flutter in the photosensitive emulsion…) that work as dance partners in this exchange.
