- Conceived as part of slovenian artist [b]Tobias Putrih[/b]'s project [url=http://www.venetianatmospheric.com/ ]Venetian, Atmospheric[/url] , the movie theatre built in the garden on the Island of San Servolo (Venice, Italy) will function "both as an architectural project and a sculpture, a viewing machine meant to create and encourage perceptual illusions". The daily screenings will include monographic programmes of artists from the 50s-70s as well as two programmes of contemporary works. Specially worthy of notice is the [b]John Smith[/b] retrospective with the screening of his works [i]Associations[/i] (1975), [i]The Girl Chewing Gum[/i] (1976), [i]Om [/i](1986), [i]The Black Tower[/i] (1985-7), [i]Gargantuan [/i](1992) and [i]Regression [/i](1998-9).[br /]

-The [url=http://www.neffestival.com ]NEFF festival[/url] at Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain) will begin its parallel section [b]D-NEFF[/b] (Different NEFF) devoted to experimental cinema this week. Starting tomorrow June 5th and until next Friday, and sponsored by the Goethe Institute, three programmes about german experimental film and video from 1994 to 2004 and one programme about german videclips from 1998 to 2003. D-NEFF's main activities and screenings will be held in October.

Marcos, it's fun: I live in Venezia, as you know, and I depend on you to know what happens in my own city. I had no idea of this project!
Chances are I'll manage not to see anything of it (you know how these things work, the more close to you is something the more easy is to miss it - just keep saying "I have all the time to take the boat and go to San Servolo... I'll do it tomorrow..."). Moreover, there's a lot of stuff in Venezia this June: a Bill Viola video at San Gallo ex-church (near San Marco, you know, your homonym :-P), an exhibition called Beuys/Barney at Guggenheim and more performance and art all around the place. If I manage to see something worthy I'll report back!
