A [b]Pere Portabella[/b] (Figueres, 1927) retrospective, titled [i]Pere Portabella: Cinema From the Spanish Underground[/i], started last week at the Gene Siskel film Center, Chicago. Pere Portabella is a leading figure in Spain's experimental cinema of the 70s, It is a rare occasion for watching his work oout of Spain (there was an extensive retrospective at Barcelona's MACBA this earlier this year).[br /]

The films that will be screened are [i]Cuadecuc, vampir[/i] (1970), [i]Umbracle[/i] (1971), [i]Informe general sobre unas cuestiones de interes para una proyeccion publica[/i] (1976) and [i]Pont de Varsòvia[/i] (1989).
