    Oakland Light Factory/The Great Wall of Oakland presents monthly shows of digital art, moving image, video, and new media work in Oakland. We program monthly projections at The Great Wall, situated at Broadway and Grand in the heart of artwalk. In addition, we work with artists in the Bay Area and beyond to commission new work, present special events, and host community workshops teaching artist-in-residence program in local schools.

  • Light Movement 18: Gregory Markopoulos

    For this months screening we are extremely lucky to have access to two prints of films by Gregory J. Markopoulos -the longer duration of Twice a Man, in which the filmmaker pushes his vision of an entirely new narrative cinematic form, followed by Bliss, a six minute film portraying with typical Markopoulos restrictiveness, an interior of an 18th century Byzantine Church on Hydra in Greece.

  • Forum Expanded 2017: The Stars Down to Earth

    "The Stars Down to Earth" is the title of this year’s Forum Expanded programme and is taken from the text of the same name by Theodor W. Adorno in which he grapples with the role of the irrational in mass culture. The search for ways to enable art to deal with an increasingly intangible reality forms an essential similarity between the selected works. Bringing one’s gaze back down to earth now seems more necessary than ever before. Yet how can one use film to take hold of something real when that very concept is ever harder to grasp?

  • Moscow International Experimental Film Festival 2017 call for entries

    The 2nd edition of the Moscow International Experimental Film Festival stands on a ground stone laid in by the first run in July 2016, which has been moulded by the strong support of our multifaceted jury board, collaboration with an array of outsourced talent, gratifying (in both quality and scale) response of the press in Russia and abroad, but most importantly – the engagement of a wider creative young audience with this minor and brave approach in seeing things differently in film.

  • Xcèntric: Architectures of desire from cinema

    The Xcèntric experimental film cycle inaugurates a set of four sessions in parallel to the themes proposed in the CCCB's exhibition "1,000m2 of Desire. Architecture and Sexuality". This series, which begins next Sunday, February 12 and ends on February 23, features a selection of films by authors such as Fred Halsted, Kazuo Hara, Barbara Rubin, Kenneth Anger, Jack Smith, James Herbert and Stan Brakhage.

  • Museo Tamayo: Pablo Mazzolo

    Pablo Mazzolo (b.1976, Buenos Aires, Argentina) currently lives and works in Buenos Aires. He studied Image and Sound Design at the University of Buenos Aires (FADU). His films explore the edges between the subject, reality, dream space, and time, through the specificity of the film medium.
