In the last 15 years we have seen the flourishing of a network of filmmakers, institutions, schools and laboratories devoted to keeping analogue film culture alive in cities like Barcelona, Madrid, San Sebastián and La Coruña. Fresh from New York, we’ll be showing in Barcelona the cycle Private Collection, three programmes that run through the contemporary cinema scene filmed and screened in 16 mm and Super-8.
Driven by friendship and persevering collaboration, three generations of filmmakers take part in a series of surprising encounters, exchange of materials, shared knowledge, informal screenings, new circles and mutual influences. Teaching, production, screening, programming and preservation strengthen and enrich a poetic cinema in constant tension with the everyday in its desire to capture and invoke the experience
