  • Atelier 105 - Post-production residency for video - First commission 2016

    In January 2015, Light Cone initiated artist residencies dedicated to video-based post-production of films that fall within the realm of experimental cinema, with the objective of supporting 10 to 15 projects per year. Atelier 105 is intended for short-, medium- or feature-length projects, which have completed shooting or are still in the production phase, and which are made with or without the backing of an independent production company. While the project must fall within the field of experimental cinema, no other criteria (format, theme, processing, length, nationality of filmmaker, etc) will be imposed.

  • San Diego Underground Film Festival 2016 Call for entries

    Now in our second year - San Diego Underground Film Festival (SDUFF) is San Diego's premier showcase of experimentation in video, film, and audio based mediums. A strong DIY ethos, combined with an art school brain and a punk rock heart makes the San Diego Underground Film Festival a unique place for films, videos, and audio pieces that strive to push the boundaries of accepted form and content. Films and videos that dissent radically in form or technique will be our priority in selections. Narrative films and documentaries that expand on narrative structure, or cover subjects related to subcultures or esoteric topics; animations both narrative and experimental; experimental films and video art; all will be considered for selection. Films and videos must show a strong sense of authorship.

    Lo-fi films, punk rock films, skate board, surf, VINES, cooking shows, NO WAVE, glitter pop. Surprise us.

    Found Footage Magazine is an independent semi-annual publication distributed worldwide and printed both in English and Spanish, offering theoretical, analytical and informative contents related to found footage filmmaking. Found Footage Magazine accommodates a selection of articles and sections aimed at promoting the culture of recycled cinema from different approaches: monographs, academic essays, interviews, opinion pieces, film reviews, film festival reports and profiles of media products related to the eclectic universe of found footage film-making.

  • Young Vagrants Call for Entries 2015-2016

    Art Cinema OFFoff provides a unique platform for the displaying and research of experimental film. Any individual younger than 35 can submit one or several entries. The call for entries is open for:

    • Analogue or digital experimental film and video work
    • Any duration or genre is permitted. OFFoff welcomes fiction, animation, documentary,... as long as the work is of experimental nature. We look for works that are challenging or renewing in terms of form and content.
    • Participants have to be younger than 35 years old.

    Delete TV investigates the captivating nature of images with the specific aim to look up to new approaches by taking distance from the conventional film making method. 
    The program opens a window to the world of art and offers strong, wild and uncensored works from upcoming artists and film-makers.
    Delete TV highlights contemporary issues in a global context, highly educational and deeply focused on intercultural exchange and visibility.

  • 27th Onion City Experimental Film and Video Festival

    Onion City is one of the premiere international festivals exclusively devoted to experimental film and video.

    Onion City was founded in the 1980s by the Experimental Film Coalition and run by them for many years. Chicago Filmmakers assumed responsibility for the festival in 2001, and expanded the size and opened it up to video work as well as film. It is generally 8-10 programs over four days and features roughly 60-70 works from around the world. Aside from the competition programs, there are occasional special presentations of new or old films of note or guest presentations. Screenings take place at Chicago Filmmakers and other venues around mid-June.

  • Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival 2016

    Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival is now accepting submissions of short films, features, installation proposals, curated programmes and film-performance proposals. Works made in 2015 or 2014 will stand a greater chance of success. Scottish premieres are preferred but not essential.
