Are you still working at UCCA at Maidstone? If so you should put a sign/poster up on the noticeboard in the TBM hallway. So long as you're not asking for a specific type of person I'm sure some people will get in contact. It's when people get demanding about the type of people they want, or how they want them to act, that they become disinterested as it requires too much work for it to be free.
Make it clear as well you're not looking for actors as such. Also you should say WHEN you would want to record them. If you said, "All I need is 30 minutes of your time over the lunch break [12:30-13:00]" people would be interested as they'd already be at college and would want to make use of the time. It's ambiguous posters that say "Actors wanted for narrative piece. contact...." that I instantly flip off as it's too much effort for no money.
