OPEN CALL - December 2019 - Mentoring and exhibition residency program for international filmmakers during Havana Film Festival

Working from Havana, Cuba, Arthaus Residency is open to international artists and academics looking for an immersive experience in their work or research.  From December 1st to 21st, 2019, our Residency will be home to four filmmakers, film critics or researchers working in any discipline of the visual arts: filmmaking, performance, writing, research, music/sound, stage and costume design, production, film events, etc.

With this Program, Arthaus intends to contribute to the visibility of emerging contemporary filmmakers, film critics and researchers, by presenting their work to the international audience visiting Havana to attend the 41st Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano. The artists in residence can choose between a program lenth of 15 or 21 days. They will stay at our Colonial house where our work and exhibition space is located.

Winter Film Program

During the Festival, independent art spaces open their doors to be part of a collateral experience, where attendees engage with creators working outside of a mainstream institutional context. With this in mind, Arthaus will host our Winter Film Program, a three days show of indie productions (http://bit.ly/arthausfilm2019).

Arthaus Residency, a space for artistic creation since 2016

Our main goal is to advance the selected artists’ professional and artistic development by offering a space for creative practice and experimentation, with the guidance and support of the Residency’s staff and associates. Our residents have the opportunity to live and work in a Colonial house and participate in a range of activities such as talks, meetings and studio visits. We organize monthly events and regularly coordinate collective art projects with a wide network of local artists and art spaces. Participants are encouraged to collaborate with local artists, propose workshops, and learn about the sociocultural scenario in Cuba. You may direct any questions to [email protected]
