    Kera MacKenzie and Andrew Mausert-Mooney, co-directors of ACRE TV will facilitate a three hour (with breaks!) workshop in which all participants will learn about and make LIVE and LIVE-TO-TAPE TV! All ages and experience levels are welcome, no equipment is required, though if you have a laptop or camera please bring it. In this workshop we will:

  • The Moving Image Catalog / Guest curator: Julio Fermepín

    The Moving Image Catalog's next guest curator will be Julio Fermepín, whose selection of experimental films - entitled BEYOND THE FOREST - will be published online from Monday 23rd to Sunday 29th July.

    Julio Fermepín is an Argentinian filmmaker and teacher. Since 2005 he has made several experimental films which have been shown at numerous international venues, including L'Age d’Or (Belgium) and the Oberhausen Short Film Festival (Germany). His most recent film is Corriente.

  • Close-Up Film Course: Expanded Cinema

    At the cross-over between performative arts and film, expanded cinema emerged in the mid-60s and is now considered to have influenced many aspects of contemporary media installations and performances. American artist pioneers explored its means in regards to politics and collective participation as well as radical subjective experimentation. In Britain filmmakers used its structural and analytical means to criticise the canons of commercial cinema.

Nonetheless, in the context of our ever-expanding digital landscape, analog film faces new challenges that have forced it into a process of deep transformation. What steps do we need to take to guarantee that analog film will remain as a living-breathing medium? What are the alternatives to the idea of film as an obsolete, historical object?
