The Marienbad Film Festival, a Mariánské Lázně (CZ) based international film festival focusing on experimental and independent works, calls for submissions of experimental and independent films, audio visual essays or moving image works, completed and in progress, from all over the world. Selected projects will be presented in a non-competitive Forum Marienbad section. This section aims primarily at increasing the awareness of marginal forms of cinema and presenting contemporary moving image projects and works, both completed and in progress, from all over the world.
“non-syntax Experimental Image Festival” begins by focusing on the experimental nature of images in the contemporary, linking practices across countries, reorganizing existing media and genres, and bringing different images into dialogue with each other to consider the possibilities of the image.
The exhibition of this year, entitled “assemblage”, aims to unfold a process from separation to composition. Through the assemblage of works, the discussion of issues, and the mixing of genres and groups, the diversity of contemporary images are mapped out.
Microscope kicks off its series of “imageless” performances in connection and collaboration with the current series “Imageless Films” at Anthology Film Archives with “Films Imaginaires,” a rare evening of 16mm films and performances by the French artist Maurice Lemaître (1926 – 2018).
