    Call out for submissions for the upcoming 2nd edition of Revolutions Per Minute Film Fest (Jan 31-Feb 2, 2020). RPM is dedicated to artist cinema and audiovisual performance that challenge the boundaries of media. RPM Film Fest 2020 will take place at UMass-Boston and other locations in Boston.

  • Save the Archives Film Festival

    After last year's success, the Moving Image Society is hosting its second "Save the Archives" benefit festival! In line with our ongoing programming efforts, we want to provoke discussion about the place of analog media and its preservation in a digital world. We invite submissions of works made on or using "obsolete media" (analog video, small-gauge celluloid film like 8mm and 16mm), found footage works made with any media, and any films that are about or related to archives, preservation, restoration, or provenance.

    ALTERNATIVE FILM/VIDEO 2019 will take place from 11-15 December at Students’ City Cultural Center in Belgrade. ALTERNATIVE FILM/VIDEO 2019 invites artists from around the world, including the region and Serbia, to submit their film and video works for the competition section of  ALTERNATIVE FILM/VIDEO on the theme The Great Acceleration. The selection committee, according to the Festival regulations, will choose the films and videos for the competition.

  • Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant 2019

    The Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant is an annual grant awarded to self-identified lesbians for making visionary moving-image art. The grant is supported directly by funds provided by her estate and administered through Queer|Art by lesbians for lesbians, with a rotating panel of judges. In her last few months with us, Barbara decided to increase the grant amount, as she understood so well that a bit of financial help could make a big difference in a project.
