Light & Quiet

Light & Quiet is a 2008 Iranian Experimental film directed by Rouzbeh Rashidi that tells the visual story of one man. A man who has no news or mail. A man who lives alone. A man who resides only to himself and his hotel room. He is tortured by his mind, and in that sense he could be claustrophobic in even the largest of cityscapes, like the one that spreads out far beyond his hotel room. A city that will bring characters who will present him with small courier tasks. But in the end it is this human nature that will alienate him from all of those whom he knows (be they crooks, radicals or cultural gangsters).

Production

Rouzbeh Rashidi made this film with no/low budget and total cast & crew of seven people including the actors. There wasn't any script or pre-writing planing for this film and all the shots were taken only one time without any rehearsal or repetition. The film has a soundscape Non-diegetic audio and Rouzbeh Rashidi used captions in order to deliver the dialogues. The film was shot in 2002 but the final edit & version was not released until 2008. Light & Quiet is in Black & White.

Reception

Light & Quiet premiered in The International Film Festival Ireland 2009 and nominated for best film in Avant-garde category.
